Wednesday 22nd February: London College of Communication

This morning, Graphic Design students from the Professional Studies Unit at the London College of Communication paid a visit to the Fedrigoni showroom to receive an excellent insight into this year's brief from Fedrigoni's Head of Marketing & Promotion Pari Taylor.









Thank you to Pari and Fedrigoni for hosting the visit. We will look forward to seeing entries to the Awards from LCC next month!

Monday 20th February: Birmingham Metropolitan College

YCN enjoyed from a visit from students on the Graphic Design course from Birmingham Metropolitan College this afternoon, who stopped by to hear all about YCN and this year's Student Awards Briefs. Ciara Battigan, Head of Marketing at The Independent, kindly joined us to provide an excellent insight into this year's brief for the i paper.

Wednesday 15th February: De Montfort University

Yesterday afternoon, YCN paid a visit to the BA Graphic Design and Illustration students at De Montfort University. We spoke with students across all three years of the course about the YCN Agency and recent projects we have completed, as well as providing them with a few pointers on how to submit their entries for this year's Student Awards Briefs. Thank you to everybody who came along, and tutor John Crawford for organising the talk. We will look forward to seeing entries to the Awards from De Montfort soon!

Monday 13th February: Nottingham Trent University and University of Brighton

YCN enjoyed a visit to Nottingham Trent University yesterday afternoon to talk with students from the BA Graphic Design course. We were joined by filmmaker and ambassador for the Industry Trust Nathan Theys, who provided students with an insight into this year's brief. 





We also paid a visit to the University of Brighton to discuss YCN and this year's Student Awards Briefs with the BA Graphic Design and Illustration students.

Wednesday 8th February: University of Bedfordshire and Kingston University

This morning, we paid a visit to the University of Bedfordshire to talk with the students from the BA TV, Radio, Marketing, PR and Advertising courses. We were invited by tutor Anthony Greenbank to discuss YCN and this year’s Student Awards Briefs as part of the university’s “Working in the Media” unit. We would like to thank everybody who came along and Anthony for organising the talk!

This afternoon, students from the MA Illustration course at Kingston University stopped by 72 Rivington Street to hear more about YCN and some of the recent projects we have worked on for clients including Gap and Topshop. Thank you to everybody who came along and to Pinyada Ratanasungk for organising the talk!







 

Thursday 2nd February: Ravensbourne

This morning, we paid a visit to the BA Motion Graphics, BA Digital Advertising & Design and MA Moving Image students at Ravensbourne to discuss YCN and this year’s Student Awards Briefs. We would like to thank everybody who came along and tutor Liz Friedman for organising the talk!

We were also delighted to receive a preview of some of the students responses to the i paper brief during our visit! All the work looked terrific so far, and we will look forward to seeing the completed submissions to the Awards from Ravensbourne in March!
 

Friday 27th January: Camberwell College of Arts

On Friday, we paid a visit to the BA Illustration students at Camberwell College of Arts to discuss YCN and this year’s Student Awards Briefs. Ciara Battigan, Head of Marketing, and Lenny Smith, Marketing Manager at The Independent kindly joined us for the presentation to provide an insight into this year’s brief for the i paper.

Thursday 26th January: University of Gloucestershire

We visited the BA Advertising students at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham on Thursday to talk about YCN, as well as this year’s Student Awards Briefs.

Tuesday 17th January: Southampton Solent University

On Tuesday, we paid a visit to the Illustration, Graphic Design and Advertising students at Southampton Solent University to talk about YCN, as well as this year's Student Awards Briefs. We were joined by Nathan Theys, co-founder of Film Creatives, who provided insights into this year's Industry Trust brief from his perspective as a director, writer and producer.







We were also delighted to bring back some souvenirs from our visit! The students kindly gave us a couple of these marvellous posters they had produced to promote the university and their course.

Wednesday 11th January: Sussex Coast College

YCN enjoyed a visit from Sussex Coast College yesterday, who stopped by to learn all about our latest projects, particularly the YCN Student Award Briefs (all of which can be found here). Thanks for coming along everybody! We will look forward to seeing entries to the Awards from Sussex in March!

Tuesday 13th: Bucks New University

YCN enjoyed a visit to see Graphic Design students at Bucks on Tuesday. We enjoyed speaking to students about their chosen briefs and viewing work in progress, and look forward to seeing the full entries in March! Thanks to everyone who came and to Mark Hudson for organising.

Monday 12th: Leeds Met University

YCN enjoyed a visit to see Graphic Design students at Leeds Met on Monday to talk about this year's YCN Student Awards briefs. It was a great turn out so thanks to everyone who came and to Alice Morgan and Aiden Winterburn for organising.

Tuesday 6th: Norwich University College of the Arts

YCN visited the Graphic Design students at Norwich last tuesday, to talk about YCN and this years's Student Award briefs. We were joined by Andrew Cross from Marks and Spencer who gave a great insight into this year's YCN Student Awards M&S brief which you can download here.

Tuesday 29th: London College of Communication

YCN visited BA Digital Media Design students at LCC today, and were joined by Alex Lowe and Rachel Woodward from ESPN and Emma Profitt and James Moody from creative agency BDA who gave a great insight into this year's YCN Student Awards ESPN brief which you can download here.

November 24th: University for the Creative Arts, Epsom...

YCN visited the University for Crestive Arts, Epsom to talk to the Fashion Promotion & Imaging students in the morning and the Graphic Design students in the afternoon about the YCN Student Awards programme which launched at the begining of this month. It was a great turn out so thanks to all those that came along. We look forward to seeing all your work in March.

November 9th: University for the Creative Arts, Rochester...

The University for the Creative Arts stopped by the YCN studio today to learn all about our latest projects including the YCN student briefs. Thanks for coming along guys!

 

November 8th: Bournemouth illustration students come to visit...

First year illustration students from the Arts University College at Bournemouth visited 72 Rivington Street this morning. They learned about YCN and the 2011-2012 Student Briefs.

November 7th: University College Falmouth visit YCN...

Today, 72 Rivington Street played host to students from University College Falmouth, who learned about the YCN student awards and the exciting projects we have in development, including the newly launched 2011-2012 Student Briefs.

November 2nd, 2011: A visit from UWIC Foundation course...

We were delighted to welcome UWIC's foundation students into the YCN studio today! They enjoyed a talk about the YCN student Awards and found out about all the interesting work we get up to here at YCN HQ. 

November 1st, 2011: Staffordshire University - our first talk on the 2011-12 Awards briefs!

We were pleased to resume our YCN college presentations with a visit by students from Staffordshire University.

The inaugural talk involving our 2011-12 Student Awards briefs, it was a pleasure to meet everyone and discuss YCN's work as well as the recently-launched creative challenges!

 

July 1st, 2011: A visit from Gray's School of Art students...

Yesterday a group of students from Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen (part of Robert Gordon University) paid a visit to YCN HQ, and listened to a talk about our work and the student awards.

It was great to meet you all; enjoy the rest of your time in London!

 

June 27th, 2011: We enjoyed a visit from SFA students today!

We enjoyed a visit from Stephen F Austin State University students today! The students are on a study trip and visited us to hear about our current projects, the differences of working in the creative industry in Europe compared to the US and to be introduced to the YCN Student Awards programme. We loved the crest we were presented with and wish the students all the best for their time in the UK!

 

April 26th, 2011: Aberdeen...

Students all the way from Aberdeen College visited us today to talk about the YCN Student Awards programme and broader work.

 

April 15th, 2011: A visit from Staffordshire University

A lovely group of second year students from the Advertising & Brand Management course at Staffordshire University popped into YCN yesterday so that we could have a chat about the YCN Student Awards and all the exciting work we have been doing here recently. They also had the chance to try Callum's coffee from our pop up Coffee Shop downstairs. Thanks to tutors John Delacruz and John Hudson for organising.


March 2nd, 2011: Brighton City College

We enjoyed a visit from Digital Media Design students from City College Brighton on Monday. Thanks to tutor, Julie Samuels for organising.

 

February 24th, 2011: LCC visit YCN

We were joined by Fairtrade Foundation's Head of Consumer Marketing, Richard Stobart yesterday who gave an insight into the organisation to students from London College of Communication who have been set the YCN Student Awards Fairtrade brief as part of their curriculum.

 

February 22nd, 2011: University of Salford

Students from the BA Hons Design for Digital Media course at University of Salford dropped into YCN today! Thanks to tutor, Mark Scargill for organising.

February 22nd, 2011: University of Brighton

YCN visited University of Brighton yesterday to talk to second and third year students about the YCN Student Awards programme. It was a great turn out so thanks to all those that came along. We enjoying seeing Pat Bradbury too, who worked with us at YCN last year!

 

February 21st, 2011: UWIC visit YCN!

Students from the BA Hons Graphic Communication course at UWIC, Cardiff came along to YCN today for an introduction to the YCN Student Awards programme.

 

February 21st, 2011: University for the Creative Arts, Farnham

 

YCN visited first and second year students from University for the Creative Arts, Farnham from the BA Hons Advertising and Brand Communication course on Friday. The second year students are busy working on the briefs and the first year's were keen to get an introduction to YCN in advance of working on the new programme which will launch in October 2011.

 

February 14th, 2011: University College Falmouth

BA Hons Advertising students from UCF visited us at YCN this morning. The first year students came to get an introduction to YCN and the Student Awards as they will be taking part in the up-coming programme, launching later this year. The students are in London for a study visit and are meeting the team at DDB UK this afternoon. Thanks to tutor, Jono Wardle for organising.

 

February 11th, 2011: Manchester Metropolitan University

YCN visited Manchester Metropolitan University along with Boost yesterday! We talked to second and third year BA Hons Graphic Design students about the YCN Student Awards programme and the broader work of YCN. Thanks to tutor, Liz Wheeldon-Wyatt for organising.

 

February 11th, 2011: DeMontfort University

We took a trip to Leicester on Wednesday to meet students from DeMontfort University. The BA Hons Graphic Design students have each chosen a brief to work on from the YCN Student Awards programme so we were really happy to discuss some of their work in progress at the end of the talk. Thanks to tutor, John Crawford for organising.

 

February 10th, 2011: University College Falmouth

We enjoyed a visit from BA Hons Public Relations students from University College Falmouth this morning. The group had travelled up from Cornwall for a study visit and were off to London College of Communication in the afternoon to talk to PR students studying there. We introduced YCN and this year's YCN Student Awards briefs and talked about work that YCN have done alongside PR agencies. We couldn't not mention Cassie Lawrence either, a Falmouth graduate who won our YCN Student of the Year Award at our ceremony in September 2010. Thanks to Course leader, Jon Cope for organising.

 

February 9th, 2011: University Centre Doncaster

YCN enjoyed a visit to University Centre Doncaster yesterday to talk to third year BA Hons Graphic Design students. It was great to see plently of ideas adorning the walls of the studio where students have been busy working on this year's programme of YCN Student Awards briefs. Thanks to tutor, Simon Gomes for organising the talk.

 

February 4th, 2011: University of Lincoln

We enjoyed a visit to Lincoln on Wednesday. YCN were joined again by two creatives from Propaganda, a Leeds based studio who work with Boost Drinks and came along to present the Boost brief and give an insight into the brand - also giving out some samples of the drink for everybody to try! Many thanks to all those that attended and to Charlotte, Ben and Jennie for organising.

February 1st, 2011: Southampton Solent University

We enjoyed our trip to Southampton Solent University yesterday to talk to students from the BA Hons Graphic Design and BA Hons Advertising courses. We were glad to hear that the new Annuals have been well recieved and very much look forward to seeing some Southampton entries in March. Thanks to tutor, Steve Lannin for organising our talk to Graphics students and to Nik Mahon and Ken Burtenshaw for organising our talk to Advertising students in the afternoon.

 

January 27th, 2011: The University of Northampton

YCN headed to The University of Northampton today to talk to students from the BA Hons Graphic Communication course and to Graphics students from partnering, Tresham College. We were joined by Tuborg Brand Manager, Chris Thornhill, who gave an engaging presentation with insights into the brand's past creative work and communicated the creative challenge within the Tuborg YCN brief which you can read in full here. Many thanks to Chris and to Graphic Communication Course Leader, James Smith for organising. We enjoyed looking at students work afterwards and were really happy to see a full collection of YCN Annuals at home on the shelves of the studio.

 

January 25th, 2011: Central St. Martins

We enjoyed a visit from Central Saint Martins second and third year Advertising students today to talk about the YCN Student Awards programme. Lots of the students joined the YCN Lending Library! Thanks to tutor, Clive Challis for organising.

 

January 24th, 2011: Bucks New University

We headed to High Wycombe today to talk to students at Bucks New University from the BA Graphic Arts and BA Advertising courses. We enjoyed having a look around the studio and saw some lovely work produced by students alongside YCN collaborators, Lauren and Anna from Jiggery Pokery who had recently been to visit Bucks to run a workshop. We showed some recent moving image work and the photograph above shows Caco Neves animation for Granta Magazine which was commissioned through YCN. January 21st, 2011: Central Bedfordshire College

We enjoyed a visit from Central Bedfordshire College students yesterday! The students were from all years of the BA(Hons) Graphic Design for Print and New Media course and came along to find out more about the broader work of YCN, and to talk about the YCN Student Awards programme. January 20th, 2011: UWIC

YCN visited UWIC, Cardiff on Tuesday to talk about this year's YCN Student Awards programme to BA (Hons) Graphic Communication students and to introduce the broader work of YCN. We were pleased to hear that the UWIC students are now getting stuck into their chosen YCN briefs. Thanks to Ian Weir and Olwen Moselly from UWIC for organising.

 

January 20th, 2011: London College of Communication

YCN visited LCC on Tuesday 18th January to talk about this year's YCN Student Awards Programme and the broader work of YCN. We were joined by Steven Hill and James Burton from Warp who gave interesting and useful insights into the reasons behind their brief for this year's YCN Student Awards programme and provided a run down of Warp's creative history. January 13th, 2011: Sussex Downs College

We enjoyed a visit from Sussex Downs College today! Second year students from the FdA Digital Design course came into the YCN Studio to discuss the briefs from this year's Awards programme and to talk about the broader work of YCN. We were very happy to hear that the students have all chosen to work on a variety of this year's briefs and look forward to seeing their submissions in March. Thanks to our current intern, illustrator Raquel Figueira, for beautifully adorning our Welcome chalkboard and to Kate Williams from Sussex Downs College for organising the talk.

 

December 3rd 2010: A visit from Bucks...

We really enjoyed a visit from Buckinghamshire New University's third year Graphic Arts students who braved the snow for a talk at YCN today. We were pleased to hear that some of the students are already busy working on this year's briefs and look forward to recieving their responses in March 2011.
